An unrestricted gift of $25 million was made to the Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) this week. It is the largest private contribution the institution has received in its 137-year history.

The unrestricted contribution will be dispersed over a period of five years, at $5 million per year. 柚子视频Director Nipalm Patel said the funds will be put to use in the institution鈥檚 operating budget and will cover salaries and other expected expenses that support day-to-day operations.

The gift is from Mark Terasaki, who has had a decades-long relationship with MBL, where he studied after earning a doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley. Currently, he is an associate professor at the University of Connecticut Health Center鈥檚 Department of Cellular Biology. .
